If powered, the valve may simply need cleaning. Turn off the water lines and disconnect the hoses. Remove the access panels to locate the valve. Scrub it with white vinegar and a toothbrush, then try operating your washer again. If cleaning doesn’t work, just replace the entire water inlet valve.
Verify the Water Level Pressure Switch
All washers have a pressure switch that detects the water level and shuts off the fill valve when full. If it’s defective, the washer won’t fill properly. Inspect the pressure hose inside the washer tub for cracks and holes. Make sure the hose is firmly connected to the switch. Remove the switch housing and check for debris buildup or damage. Clean out any sediment and reinstall the switch. Test it by blowing air through the tubing. If no air passes through, replace the faulty pressure switch.
Check the User Interface
Today’s washers have electronic controls and digital displays. Glitches can occur just like with any computerized device. Review your user manual and verify the washer is programmed correctly for the wash cycle you selected. Make sure child lock features are disabled if accidentally activated. Press power to reset the washer. If issues persist, unplug the unit for an hour to reset the computer controls. The interface may need replacement if all options fail. Contact the manufacturer for troubleshooting help.
